What We Do
The business of RWEFRA is governed by a work-plan, developed by the Executive Committee and approved by the General Assembly.
The work-plan is aligned to RWEFRA’s mission, vision, and strategic objectives. These strategic objectives are contained in thematic areas within which most of our business is conducted.
The thematic areas are:
- Welfare and socioeconomy;
- Health;
- Education;
- Agriculture and Livelihoods;
- Environment and sustainability.
RWEFRA has Calender year activities that fall within these thematic areas. Members are free to suggest what activity/ project can be undertaken, but will have to be approved by the Executive Committee. The main activities that have so far been mainstreamed in our operations are:
1. RWEFRA Sports Gala & Family Day
Every year, RWEFRA organizes a sports gala and family day. This is a platform where both members and non-members of RWEFRA come together, to meet each other, engage in physical activities that boost their health, enjoy all sorts of local dishes and foods, and showcase (market) what businesses they are involved in, including building business contacts and networks.
The Executive Committee decides whether to hold this Gala in Kasese or Kampala for purposes of inclusiveness.
2. Implementation of a “RWEFRA Project”
This is a project that has to be selected by members, based on the need of our community. It is through this project that we give back to community.
Previously, we have done:
- Humper project – to support families affected by the Rwenzururu Kingdom/UPDF crisis
- Mattress Project – to support all health facilities in the entire Kasese district with mattresses
- Scholastic Materials project – to support all primary schools’ kids in Kasese district with books and other scholastic materials.

Greening the Rwenzori – planting of trees in the whole Kasese to protect the environment
3. RWEFRA Night
Every year, RWEFRA organizes a RWEFRA Night. This is an opportunity for members to shed off some fatigue, stress, and relax amidst tight working environments. Members, dance, club, and enjoy themselves.
The RWEFRA night is usually a climax of the ‘RWEFRA Project’ and the collections at the RWEFRA Night, support the project.
4. Involvement in Charity work
This is often done on an ad hoc basis, depending on the need and circumstances that obtain at a particular time. The Executive committee receives proposals and after due consideration, sanctions a charity project that may be priority.
By and large, these charity engagements include, for example:
- Support to flood victims and related emergencies
- Support to victims of fires and related emergencies
- Support to patients stranded in facilities or need emergency referral to specialized treatment
